As a husband and wife wedding photography team our job is to tell that story. In short their wedding was a relaxed, fun, and truly memorable celebration. It was nothing short of enchanting. As a wedding photography team, we always aim to capture the story of the day with both posed and candid shots. Most importantly it is always with a fun, relaxed vibe to help everyone feel at ease. Together with Joanna and Benn, it was impossible not to be swept up in the warmth of their story. The love and the beauty of their thoughtfully styled wedding, was evident from the beginning. From start to finish, it was a day filled with joy, love, and plenty of laughter.

Newly Decorated Ceremony Room

When we arrived at the Loughrea Hotel, we were greeted by the newly redecorated ceremony room. It created a feeling of new beginnings which set the perfect backdrop for Benn and Joanna’s ceremony. The beautiful setting, made even more special by the personal touches the couple had added. Benn and Joanna had decorated the ceremony room and reception area themselves. Fresh greenery and delicate fairy lights were draped throughout. Therfore creating a soft, romantic atmosphere that was perfect for an early spring wedding. As a result the entire space felt warm and welcoming. Beginning with the arch of greenery at the door it was like stepping into a beautiful forest lit by twinkling stars. The result? A warm, inviting atmosphere that was as intimate as it was beautiful. Perfect for photographing a special wedding day.

Capturing Pre-Ceremony Moments

Before the ceremony, we had the chance to photograph Benn and his groomsmen. The guys were in great spirits, and we made sure to capture a mix of fun, candid moments and classic group shots. Understandably, there were laughs, high fives, and even a few pre-ceremony jokes that had us all in stitches. It’s especially important for us to photograph the groom before the wedding ceremony. It is during these few shots, when we can see those little moments of reflection and anticipation before the whirlwind of the day truly begins.

As guests began to arrive, we took advantage of the opportunity to snap some important family photos, saving time after the ceremony. The moment Joanna arrived was truly something special. Not only did she look absolutely radiant, but she was also accompanied by their adorable pet dog. The Loughrea Hotel is not only the perfect venue for your wedding but it is also a pet friendly hotel. So best of all their little fur ball had the important job of being the ring bearer. It was such a sweet and personal touch, and we loved capturing these moments of joy before the ceremony. After a few quick pre-ceremony photos, Joanna was ready to walk down the aisle, her excitement contagious as she prepared to marry the love of her life.

Photographing Weddings is Truly Special

The ceremony room was simply stunning. With the new decor, it looked fresh, modern, and full of love. The combination of the fresh foliage, soft lighting, and the couple’s vision really made the space feel intimate and special. Setting the stage for what would be a heartfelt ceremony, a beautiful celebration of their love. Together with heartfelt readings from friends and a touching exchange of vows there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. As we moved around the room capturing photos it reminded me of why I love my job so much. Photographing weddings is truly special.

Ring Warming

In a beautiful display of love and unity, this wedding ceremony featured a heartfelt “ring warming” tradition. The couple invitied guests to become an intimate part of their journey. As the wedding rings were passed hand-to-hand, each guest paused to infuse their best wishes, blessings, and loving thoughts. As a result it created a tangible circle of support that the couple will carry with them every day. Adding another layer of meaning, the couple exchanged personal letters, each one a reflection of their love, dreams, and promises. These letters, lovingly tied with ribbon, were then placed in a special keepsake box. Finally the box was sealed to be reopened on their fifth anniversary. Thus, not only did the couple leave the ceremony with rings warmed by the love of their family and friends, but they also left with a promise to revisit these precious moments years down the road. Therfore, carrying with them a beautiful reminder of their wedding day and the love that surrounded them from the very start.

Stunning Rooftop Bar

Once the ceremony concluded, we gathered the immediate family for a series of family photos on the hotel’s stunning rooftop bar. The rooftop at the Loughrea Hotel offers panoramic views of Loughrea, for that reason weather permitting we like to use this space for wedding photography. The spring sunshine made everything feel even more magical. It was the perfect setting for wedding photos. As a result we had a great time capturing some fun, candid moments with their closest loved ones.

Romantic & Fun Photos

Following the family photos, Benn and Joanna, along with their bridal party, headed out for some outdoor portraits at one of Loughrea’s most scenic spots – the historic walks. Nestled between the ancient stone walls of the Carmelite Abbey and the only working moat in Ireland. It is an incredibly picturesque location for wedding photos. Between the mature trees, charming bridges, and tranquil atmosphere makes it the perfect backdrop for more romantic and fun photos. As wedding photographers we frequently recommend this spot to couples.

Playful Shots

Best of all Joanna had been very thoughtful and had brought along fur-covered hot water bottles for her bridesmaids. Which, understandably added a cosy touch to the photos – and yes, we couldn’t resist snapping a few playful shots of everyone wearing sunglasses and holding the hot water bottles. Despite the chill in the air, it was a lighthearted moment that added to the relaxed, fun vibe of the day.

Romantic Portraits

Once the bridal party photos were complete, we took some couple shots in the crisp February air. The late afternoon spring sun light coming through the trees, was soft and flattering. With the couple wrapped up in each other, it was the perfect backdrop for some romantic portraits. As your wedding photographer I always make sure to get a blend of both posed and candid shots. Joanna and Benn were such naturals in front of the camera that every moment felt effortless and joyful

Unforgettable Evening

As the couple returned to the hotel for their reception, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy. Benn and Joanna were greeted by Damien and Nicole, who had prepared hot toddies to help take the chill away. As a result of the crisp spring air they were understandably feeling the effects and accepted them gratefully. These personal touches, in addition to the delicious food and drinks, made for an unforgettable evening. They also served as opportunities for us to capture some relaxed wedding photos.

Stunning Reception

The talented wedding team at the Loughrea Hotel had created a stunning reception space. Therfore, we always take time to capture the details. Especially the elegant cake table, the beautifully designed menus, and all the little touches that make wedding days so personal. Joanna & Benns was no exception. In addition to the details we also took some casual shots of guests enjoying themselves, laughing, and dancing. It is equally important to capture the candid moments that truly tell the story of a wedding day celebration.
