Tara and Shane’s Ardilaun Hotel Wedding in Galway
A Family-Centred Civil Wedding at the Ardilaun Hotel
Tara and Shane celebrated their Ardilaun Hotel civil wedding surrounded by their children, families and an impressively large bridal party. Although heavy rain continued throughout the day, the hotel’s elegant interiors provided plenty of attractive locations for their photographs.
With both Tara and Shane getting ready at the Ardilaun, we could photograph the story unfolding on both sides of the hotel. From the family-focused morning preparations and civil ceremony to the singing waiters and evening celebrations, their wedding was filled with personality, laughter and wonderful moments.
Wedding Preparations at the Ardilaun Hotel
Two Preparations, One Hotel, and a Morning Filled With Family
Both Tara and Shane prepared for the wedding at the Ardilaun Hotel, making it possible for us to document each side of the morning without unnecessary travel.
Shane spent the morning getting ready while also looking after his son, creating a lovely mixture of practical family moments, anticipation and excitement. Elsewhere in the hotel, Tara prepared for the ceremony while caring for her daughter and sharing the morning with her bridesmaids.
As a husband-and-wife photography team, we were able to cover both preparations and preserve the different moments taking place simultaneously before everyone came together for the ceremony.
Tara and Shane’s Ardilaun Civil Ceremony
A Personal Ceremony Surrounded by Family and Friends
Tara and Shane held their civil ceremony at the Ardilaun Hotel, bringing their families and friends together in a warm and welcoming setting.
Having the preparations, ceremony and reception in one venue allowed the day to flow naturally despite the weather outside. Guests could relax and enjoy each part of the celebration without travelling between locations, while we remained close to all the people and moments that mattered.
We photographed the ceremony discreetly, capturing the important formal moments alongside the expressions, reactions and family connections that made it personal to Tara and Shane.
Seven Bridesmaids, Seven Groomsmen and Four Young Attendants
A Bridal Party Filled With Friends, Family, and Plenty of Personality
Tara and Shane were joined by a wonderfully large bridal party consisting of seven bridesmaids, seven groomsmen, three flower girls and a pageboy.
Photographing such a large group requires organisation, clear direction and a relaxed approach. We created the important formal group photographs while also allowing room for the personalities and energy of the bridal party to come through.
With everyone gathered indoors, the Ardilaun’s spacious interiors allowed us to arrange the group comfortably and create a varied collection of family and bridal-party photographs without depending on the weather.
Beautiful Wedding Photographs Despite the Galway Rain
Making the Most of the Ardilaun Hotel’s Elegant Interiors
The rain continued throughout Tara and Shane’s wedding day, but it never became an obstacle to creating beautiful photographs. The Ardilaun Hotel offers a variety of indoor locations, giving us plenty of options for family groups, bridal-party photographs and portraits of the newly married couple.
We worked with the hotel’s architecture, interiors and natural window light to create variety without making the photography feel repetitive. Because the locations were all within the venue, Tara and Shane could remain comfortable and close to their guests throughout the day.
Their wedding is a perfect example of why a flexible photography plan matters. Galway weather may be unpredictable, but thoughtful preparation and a venue with strong indoor options ensure the story of the day can still be photographed beautifully.
A Lively Surprise From the Singing Waiters
Music, Laughter and an Energetic Start to the Evening
The singing waiters brought a lively burst of entertainment to the evening celebration, surprising the guests and quickly filling the room with music, laughter and participation.
These energetic moments created wonderful opportunities for natural photographs as guests sang along, raised their hands and joined in the fun. The entertainment set the tone perfectly for the evening before the band took over and continued the celebrations.
It was a memorable finish to a fantastic wedding day—one shaped by family, friendship and a joyful atmosphere rather than the rain outside.
